The Orchid

Patterned like a tiger

The new issue of Sublimation is out now! You can find The Orchid there.

The Singapore Botanic Gardens have inspired several of my poems, including this one that appears (quite appropriately) in Sublimation’‘s ‘Midsummer Day’s Nightmare’ issue. The Orchid is an ekphrastic poem, one inspired by the carnival landscape of the National Orchid Garden, captured in my own photographs.

Supporting poetry, literature and art is even more important these days, given the landscape of funding.

Still, if you’re on a budget and would like to spend some time with free poetry about plants, you can browse the collection of plant poems in the current issue of Eye to the Telescope! (Today’s Featured Plants is my contribution to that garden of poetic blossoms.)
