The Nature of Our Times

The concept of this anthology thrills me—poetic partner to the National Nature Assessment (cancelled and reborn, Phoenix-like, as United by Nature). That ecology and poetry achieve symbiosis is the most perfect symbol for the future I would like us to achieve.

I am a Poet for Science. I also am a Scientist for Poetry. There’s beauty in the symmetry, strength and innovation in the collaboration. Whether or not you tune in for my contribution, there are some remarkable poets here, poets and writers I have followed for all or most of my career.

After all, why wouldn’t we celebrate the extraordinary in the ecological hug we can find every day on this beautiful planet? The biophilia health crowd agree—you should tune in, because it’s good for your health and well-being to be connected to what surrounds you.
