Trifecta

three SFPA publications in one day

SFPA joy: Star*Line, Dwarf Stars and Rhysling!

I have a (postku-style) poem in the latest Star*Line (fiddlehead), as well as one each in the Dwarf Stars (Rest) and Rhysling (Pterosaur) anthologies that just dropped for SFPA members. Wow.

Imposter syndrome is real–it affects so many of us. Just a couple of years ago, when I was getting back into the routine of submitting my work, I had a moment where (numerous rejections in) I wondered if I was good enough.

But I had a made a deal with myself, and that (wiser or perhaps more pragmatic) self was stern: if I was writing for myself–the practice of writing itself a kind of medicine–then external validation was mere bonus.

It took some time to get myself used to my new rules, but I started to see rejections more as differences of taste, and I started to approach acceptances with gratitude for inclusion among a community of exceptional writers.

Oh my, what a talented community you’ll find in these pages. It’s fun–and humbling–to be among them.
