Atlas & The World on Repeat in OPP

Origami Poems Project is perfect for small thematic collections. There is room for six small poems–or sections of larger ones. When you print the page, after some folding and cutting, you emerge with a tiny book.

In this case, the theme of my most recent collection is rocks, channeling Atlas of Greek mythology, with guest appearance by Sisyphus.

My partner and I visited Calanais (Scotland) a couple of years ago. Because Scotland, there was rain. There was hail. There were darkened skies.

But there also was light, even into the wee hours, because this was near the summer solstice. The Calanais Standing Stones predate Stonehenge. Calanais I is the most famous, sitting atop the hill, with a long avenue that reminded me of Avebury. But there are many other circles in the area, some with names, and these inspire the sections of the longer poem Atlas that anchors this mini-chapbook.
