“Rest” in the Dwarf Stars anthology
I’m delighted that “Rest” (published last year in The Calendula Review) appears in Dwarf Stars 2026, but I don’t expect this to be a Cinderella story.
(Oh wait, I’ve mixed my narratives. The dwarves go with Snow White, not Cinderella. She couldn’t care less about dwarves. She’s into shoes instead.)
It’s my third appearance in a Dwarf Stars anthology. (Clearly, I’m going to need seven if I want to close this loop.)
I enjoy the short form. It serves me even better than the Calm app for mindfulness, being present with the world. “Rest” is exactly about that moment when a hummingbird comes to rest right in front of you–and in so doing, unlocks a universe of potential, opens a wormhole into time itself.
Please enjoy a few moments of calm in a world of chaos.
