Learn more about Elgin-nominated The Women of Myth
A few months ago, I joined Rob Jolles with the Maryland Writer’s Association to record a podcast (released as the May 1 episode) about my latest chapbook, our mutual thoughts on writing, and how creativity works.
I enjoy doing podcasts. For an introvert, spilling your guts to a glowing microphone is far easier than other forms of outreach. With podcasts (unlike with most poetry), you can wax poetic. Talk about the side quests. Stay after the show for the Q&A.
The Women of Myth is my retrospective show, the me from my debut on the spec stage in the mid-2000s. I collected my favorites from that time to send to the Island of Wak-Wak, the collection anchored in the opening section on women in mythology or legend. I navigate from there into other fantasies, into astropoetry, into science poetry, and into dreams.
The final section, The Center of the Dream, is homage to my beloved aunt Betsy Davids–4th a poem I wrote for a major birthday of hers some decades ago. She’s a dream poet, a book artist, and an academic like me. Or perhaps, more accurately, I am an academic (doing that ok), a poet (sure, fine), and an aspiring (mostly failing) book artist because of her.
PS: SFPA members, Elgin voting is open now through September 15. Find The Women of Myth in the Chapbooks folder.
